What is a Food Intolerance?
A food intolerance can develop, when undigested food molecules escape into the bloodstream (known as leaky gut).
The consequences of this can be far reaching, and symptoms can range from asthma, behavioural issues and skin complaints, to nausea and tummy troubles.
If you suspect food is playing a part in your child’s symptoms, the only way to know for sure is to check for elevated IgG antibodies.
TESTme’s Junior Test Kit has been designed with your child in mind – to provide a broad range of antigens to help identify any foods which may (or may not) be triggering a reaction.

Children with intolerances will typically experience one or more symptoms, but not limited to:
- Digestive issues (bloating/gas/constipation/diarrhoea)
- Sore tummies
- Nausea
- Migraines/headaches
- Asthma or respiratory issues (sinus congestion/mucus/ sneezing)
- Eczema, skin rashes or hives
- Acne
- Poor energy/poor concentration levels
- Behavioural issues
- Fatigue
- Seasonal allergies/pet allergies
Why is This Happening?
From carbon emissions and wi-fi exposure, to chemical-laden food products, our children are constantly exposed to substances which their delicate immune systems struggle to tolerate.
This constant onslaught of toxicity can lead to excess inflammation.
This in turn, can damage the delicate barrier which protects the bloodstream form harmful substances in the bowel, leading to an wide range of symptoms.

Keeping Them Safe
As parents, we play a crucial role in fostering a supportive environment, and proper nutrition plays a vital role in strengthening your child’s immune system, and enhancing its resilience.
It may seem obvious, but introducing a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole foods into our children’s diet, provides essential nutrients to help build a robust defence against potential allergens.
By testing as much as you can, you not only identify problematic foods, but you ‘rule in’ as many safe foods as possible to keep your child’s diet varied and diverse.

A Note From Iona
Navigating the world of food and allergies as parents can be a challenging task. The increasing toxicity in our environment presents unique obstacles for us to overcome in protecting our children’s health
As a mum, I have had to learn to navigate this world myself, and so completely understand the challenges involved. All I can say, is to trust your instinct, empower yourself by learning as much as you can, and be kind to yourself while you interpret those changes and learn to adapt.
By educating ourselves, focusing on prevention, and seeking professional guidance, we as parents can provide a healthier future for our “Little People”
So, I leave this message with much understanding and have included the TESTme Handbook below to help guide you. The platforms inside it opened doors for me, and all they cost was my time – I hope they can do the same for you.

Building Their Defences – One Test at a Time
Because Your Child’s Health is Worth More Than a Guess

TESTme’s Top FAQ’s
1. What’s the difference between a food intolerance and an allergy?
Food intolerances involve delayed immune responses that can cause symptoms like bloating, fatigue, skin issues, or mood swings and symptoms can be delayed by up to 72 hours. Allergies are immediate and potentially life-threatening. Our test identifies IgG-mediated intolerances, not allergies.
2. Is the test safe and suitable for children?
Yes, it’s a simple finger-prick test done at home, and we include a child-friendly collection kit which is very easy to use. Most parents use this test to help identify foods which may be contributing to symptoms like eczema, tummy troubles, or behavioural changes.
3. How accurate is the test and what does it actually measure?
We test for 150 different foods, using scientifically validated methods which detect raised IgG antibodies which is a common marker of food intolerance. This helps highlight foods your child may be reacting to so you can make informed changes with confidence. Our Labs
4. How long do results take and will I understand them?
Once your child’s sample reaches our lab, results will be available within 5 working days. They come in a clear traffic light system with a full breakdown of foods to reduce or eliminate. The TESTme Handbook is a comprehensive and interactive resource which will answer all your questions, and Iona is available by email if you encounter any issues.
5. What if I’ve already removed some foods — will they still show up?
If a food has been avoided for 8 weeks or more, antibody levels may be too low to detect. If you suspect a specific food but your child hasn’t eaten it in a while, let us know before testing — we’ll advise how to proceed for the most accurate results.
6. Do I need a GP referral to do the test?
Not at all. This is an at-home test designed to be simple, fast, and independent. You don’t need permission or a referral – just order online, follow the kit instructions, and send it off to our UK lab.
7. Will I need to change my child’s diet forever?
Not usually! The test helps identify which foods to reduce or temporarily avoid, not cut out everything. Many parents are surprised how removing just one or two trigger foods can dramatically improve symptoms and behaviour.
8. Can I test more than one family member at a time?
Yes, and many parents do! Testing multiple family members can help spot shared triggers and make food planning easier. We often run bundle offers to support this, so feel free to contact us if you’re testing more than one person.
