Free School Talks
Could Food Intolerances Be Affecting Your Child? Free Talks for Parents and Schools
At TESTme Health, we know how challenging it can be for schools, parents, and children when food intolerances go unnoticed. From unexplained tummy aches and skin rashes to fatigue, poor concentration, or even behavioural changes, food intolerances can quietly affect a child’s wellbeing, their ability to learn, and their confidence.
That’s why I offer free evening talks for schools in the Highlands. These sessions are designed for parents, teachers, and canteen staff who want to understand more about food intolerances. What they are, how to recognise them, and how small changes can make a big difference.
Learning to ask the right questions, allows you to make small, meaningful changes which can transform your child’s physical and mental health for the better. As a mum, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to manage your own health, let alone your child’s. Navigating symptoms in little ones is often confusing, emotional, and overwhelming
Why schools and parents need this conversation
Food intolerances are different from allergies. While allergies trigger an immediate and sometimes severe immune reaction, intolerances are often delayed. This makes them harder to spot, especially in children.
Some of the most common food intolerances we see at TESTme Health include:
- Wheat or gluten intolerance
- Dairy intolerance
- Egg or soy intolerance
Children with intolerances may appear distracted, unsettled, or “off their game” in the classroom, but the root cause can often be hiding in their breakfast and lunchbox.

What our school talks cover
- The difference between food allergies and food intolerances
- Why are food intolerances so prevalent today, particularly with children
- Why are dairy, egg and gluten such huge problems for our kids
- The top signs to watch for in children
- Why intolerances can affect mood, behaviour, and concentration
- Simple gluten free and dairy free swaps for school meals and snacks
- How parents and school staff can work together to support children
- Access to the TESTme supplement bible to help support your child’s health
Parent’s Dilema
If your child often complains of tummy aches, struggles with rashes or random skin issues, or seems unusually tired and irritable, food intolerances could be playing a role.
Unlike allergies, food intolerances don’t always show up immediately, which makes them tricky to spot. That’s why so many families feel stuck in a cycle of guessing what’s going on.
By learning how to spot the signs, then testing to make sure you have the right culprits, you can make swaps like going gluten free, wheat free or dairy free. Exploring your child’s food intolerance can be a game changer, not only at home, but in the classroom too!

The School Dimlema
In schools, food intolerances can show up in ways which directly impact learning and behaviour. A child who seems distracted, struggles to focus, or complains of stomach pain during lessons may not be “acting up” but could be struggling with something as simple as their diet.
For canteen staff, knowing which swaps to make, like gluten free pasta or dairy free alternatives can make a real difference in a child’s day. Raising awareness among head teachers, teachers, support and canteen staff can make a real difference to children with food intolerances. They need to feel understood and supported, (often they feel isolated). This contribution from schools can help them thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
