Follow-up

As with all diagnostic tests, positive results should be considered with other clinical information and discussed further with your GP.
If results are negative but symptoms persist, then we recommend you inform your GP to discuss further.

Self-tests in isolation are not a substitute for seeing a doctor, and results should be considered alongside your symptoms and medical history. You should not make a diagnosis or start any treatment without a consultation with a doctor or a trained healthcare professional.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTI’s) are rising at an alarming rate. If this uncomfortable and persistent problem plagues you, read on for some reflection on how to manage your symptoms.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are becoming increasingly prevalent, posing as uncomfortable and sometimes painful nuisances for many individuals. Characterised by pain during urination, frequent urges to urinate, and occasionally fever, UTIs are caused by bacterial overgrowth in the kidneys, ureters, bladder, or urethra. A primary culprit behind UTIs is Escherichia coli (E. coli), and is responsible for approximately 90% of cases.

Who is Most Affected?

For women, the likelihood of experiencing a UTI is significantly higher than men, with experts estimating that as many as one in two women will contract it at some point in their lives. Recurring and persistent infections are not uncommon, leading to a diminished quality of life and prolonged discomfort.

While UTIs are more prevalent in adults, they can also affect children under certain circumstances.

Various factors contribute to the development of UTIs, including diets high in sugar, dehydration, pregnancy, antibiotic use, hormone imbalances, and injuries to the urinary tract area. Fortunately, there are numerous natural remedies and supplements which can help prevent and alleviate UTI symptoms, promoting urinary tract health and overall well-being.
